[August 27] Århus, Denmark: Bike Ride & Føtex

I slept until afternoon and when I awoke, Jette was home! She had been at a Folk school, which, as I understand it, is a school where people of any age can go to learn a great variety of things.

We went on a really nice bike ride around a lake and then went to Føtex, a nearby grocery store. I LOVE riding the bikes everywhere. I rode my bike a lot this summer, and I knew I would miss it when I came abroad, so it was a nice surprise to use the bikes all the time. Lots and lots of people use bikes here, and it's amazing to see the seas of bikes parked by the train station. Luckily the bike I've been using here is purple and easy to spot. It even has a basket in the back! Perfect for my little puppydog Bella... whom I really miss!

This is Jette:

I was so excited to see swans:

There's a lot of fruit around here and there (apples, plums, berries, etc.):

I just thought these pipes were interesting. Jette said they carry hot water to their homes (I think). Is this how it is at home too? I'm pretty sure we just have a water heater at home...

Here is Uncle mowing the lawn wearing his cute hat:

At Føtex we bought some canned herring for me to try, and here it is:

Here is some candy I bought. Licorice seems quite popular, as well as those little Ga-Jol licorice drops. The pink package is Marzipan which I LOVE.

Here is a picture of the Danish coins:
