[August 31] Århus, Denmark: The Queen's Vacation Palace & Old Town with Jette

The first and only time I was in a car for my stay in Denmark, Jette took me to see the Queen's vacation palace in Århus. I feel so silly in these touristy photos... *awesome sight in the background, me standing there smiling*. Anyway, anyone could just walk right onto the palace grounds! No guard, nothing.

The view from the palace (hard to see the ocean in this pic):

There were several sculptures throughout the garden. I LOVE this particular fountain. I'm just very in love with it. It really reminds me of the 4th Harry Potter book where he has to open the egg under water to hear the message...

View of the palace from the backside:

Again, I am in love with this sculpture:

Gardens...

After the palace, Jette took me to see Old Town in Århus. It's full of old buildings that were deconstructed in their original location and then reconstructed in Old Town. We started out the visit with coffee.

There was a bakery inside Old Town and the things I bought were delicious!

The display of what a bakers kitchen might have looked like in the 1800s (I think this was the time period).

After returning back 'home', I went to Fotex and bought a few items. Here's my lunch, some canned herring and goat cheese on bread and my favorite cider:

Uncle, waiting for his dinner!:

Jette is an excellent cook:

Doesn't the table look beautiful?

I loved the room I stayed in at their house. It was so cozy and felt so warm and homey. It was perfect.
