[August 30] Århus, Denmark: Exploring Downtown Århus By Myself

A few days after arriving in Århus, thanks to Jette's tour guide skills (!), I felt comfortable enough to ride the bike into downtown alone for a day of exploring involving much wandering in no particular direction. A lot of this blog might be too detailed for some, so just ignore what you want!

I wanted to show what the bike ride from Mgmg and Jette's house into town was like. They live in a residential area.

A nice long stretch of the ride is by the seaside...

Boring pic I guess but it kind of shows how the traffic lights are, which is different than at home. Bikes are a BIG DEAL and have often have their own little lane and light.

First things first, coffee! I wanted to try Baresso because I saw a few and I guess it's a chain coffee store there. It was bigger than most Starbucks I've been to and was VERY crowded!

It was so expensive. I ordered a plain double tall machiatto. The 12 oz cup was literally half full and it was $4.50. HOLY COW. Obviously won't be doing that very often... *choke*

I saw a lot of people eating at the cafes by the canal and I wanted to try one. I picked one at random called Cafe Viggo. Again, it was really expensive but it was very delicious. I also discovered that I love Sommersby Apple Cider...

The cafe I ate at is on the right:

I bought my mom and a couple of my friends Danish designed jewelry from this shop:

Delicious lemon bar and cookie:

Temporary park people seemed obsessed with:

A band performing on the main stage for the festival:

Yummies from a bakery near Maung Maung & Jette's house... The two chocolate-looking ones are 'student bread' which is apparently all of the leftover batter mixed together. I did not like those two even though they look delicious. However I loved the pastry in the middle...
